Setting up on a Fire TV Stick

A step-by-step install of Tunin Live Pro on any Amazon Fire TV Stick, including the Downloader method and what to do if the app won't open.

The Fire TV Stick is the most common way our customers watch, for a simple reason: it costs less than most people’s monthly grocery run, plugs into any television with an HDMI port, and travels in hand luggage.

This takes about five minutes.

Before you start

You need three things:

  • A Fire TV Stick, plugged in and connected to your wi-fi
  • Your welcome email from Tunin Live, which contains your login and the download address
  • About five minutes

If you have not subscribed yet, start there — the welcome email is what makes the rest of this possible.

Step 1 — Allow installs from Downloader

Fire OS blocks apps from outside Amazon’s store by default. You are going to turn that off for one specific app.

From the Fire Stick home screen:

  1. Go to SettingsMy Fire TVDeveloper Options
  2. Select Install unknown apps
  3. Find Downloader in the list and switch it on

On some Fire OS versions, Developer Options is hidden until you go to Settings → My Fire TV → About and click Fire TV Stick seven times. If you cannot see Developer Options, that is why.

Step 2 — Install Downloader

Search the Amazon Appstore for Downloader (the orange icon, published by AFTVnews). Install it. It is free.

Step 3 — Download the app

Open Downloader. In the URL box, type the address from your welcome email exactly as written, then select Go.

Type carefully. The overwhelming majority of “it didn’t work” messages we receive are a mistyped address.

Step 4 — Install

When the download completes, Fire OS shows an install prompt. Choose Install, wait, then Open.

You can delete the downloaded file afterwards when Downloader offers — it frees a little space and changes nothing.

Step 5 — Sign in

Enter the username and password from your welcome email. The channel list loads by itself. That is the whole job.

If something goes wrong

The app won’t open. Restart the stick: Settings → My Fire TV → Restart. If that fails, uninstall and reinstall — an interrupted download is almost always the cause.

Channels load but stutter. That is a different problem, and usually not this one. See why IPTV buffers.

The remote is fighting you. The Fire Stick remote has no dedicated back gesture inside some apps — use the ◁ button rather than the home button, which drops you out entirely.

Common questions

Which Fire Stick models work?

Every Fire TV Stick from the 2nd generation onwards, plus the Fire TV Cube and Fire TV built into televisions. Older 1st generation sticks will run the app but struggle with HD streams.

Is sideloading safe?

Installing an app outside the Amazon Appstore is a standard, supported Fire OS feature — that's why the Developer Options toggle exists. Only ever install from the address in your own welcome email.

The app installed but won't open. What now?

Restart the Fire Stick from Settings, My Fire TV, Restart. If it still fails, uninstall and reinstall — an interrupted download is the usual cause.

Do I need a VPN on the Fire Stick?

No. The service is delivered directly and doesn't depend on you appearing to be in another country.
